why choose salon citrus
Citrus Organic Hair Studio is a breath of fresh air in every sense. By using organic, Eco-friendly products including low chemical, non-toxic hair color, Citrus provides a truly “healthy hair environment” free of smelly fumes and exposure to harsh chemicals and irritants.
Keeping true to the above, I do not perform services such as perms, relaxers, or keratin type straightening systems due to the chemicals & fumes associated with these types of services. I do however, constantly research products & their ingredients, so when I find more eco-friendly versions of these type of services, I will gladly add them.
While style, creativity and innovation are paramount, using only Eco-friendly products and non-toxic, low chemical hair color results in beautiful, shiny, healthy hair and is a great alternative for clients with chemical sensitivities, allergies, cancer survivors, pregnant & nursing mothers and people who just want to make “greener” choices.
Salon Citrus welcomes the opportunity to be your new salon & I would love to introduce you to my Eco-friendly approach to hair care. Here’s what they are saying:
Trained in NYC and Vidal Sassoon Academy in London, Barbara has spent twenty years working along prestigious Madison Avenue in top NYC salons as a master stylist, salon director and educator. In an ever changing industry, has used continued education for the latest techniques and trends and knows you never stop learning.
By really listening, and a belief that the definition of a great haircut is when the client can go home and style her hair with ease, Barbara has kept her clients (many of whom have become dear friends) happy for the past 2 decades."I am grateful for every guest that walks in the door and it is my #1 priority to make each client look and feel their best when they leave my chair. While staying abreast of the latest trends is a vital part of our job as hairstylists, knowing how to bring out and enhance your clients natural, classic beauty is always timeless and will always be beautiful”, says Barbara.
Moving to Georgia in 2003, Barbara has established a long list of faithful clientele in Alpharetta. She was introduced to Eco-friendly & Organic salon products & hair color in 2004 & quickly noticed a huge difference in her clients’ hair and a vast improvement of her overall health as well. Barb suffered from migraines for many years and like many of her clients, she has very sensitive skin with chemical allergies. After using the new low chemical/Eco friendly hair color & organic styling products, not only did the hair look and feel healthier but clients noticed how great their scalps felt (no burning, no chemical smell, no itching) and Barb's migraines and skin allergies have dissipated. These discoveries were the inspiration learn as much as she can about "going green" in the salon and the launch Citrus in 2009.
As a Master Stylist, an Organic Color Expert and an avid student of Essential Oils & Aromatherapy, Barb is always researching products & ways to keep her clients healthy & happy. Guests at Citrus can count on her efforts to keep them as healthy as possible by finding and using only the best Eco-friendly options for them...
Citrus has been blessed with great clients; rave reviews & continues to grow. In December 2012, Barbara launched “ForTerre Natural Skin Care”, a line of all natural skin care products… it has been flying off the shelves!!!!

I am happy to welcome Ansley to Salon Citrus.
Ansley joined Citrus in October of 2016 and has quickly become an invaluable teammate. She has a gift for listening to her clients and shows great flair for what will best fit their lifestyle and personality. With great attention to detail, her focus is to make her clients look & feel beautiful and to ensure that they have a relaxing experience in the salon.
Ansley graduated from Paul Mitchell/The School Esani, where while there was accepted into their honors program and participated in hair shows where she could show her creativity with her haircuts and color techniques and frequently styled dozens of Brides on their Wedding Day. Ansley is always looking to further her education and studies the latest techniques and continuously looks up new trends to keep her clients looking fashion forward and feeling amazing.
After initially graduating from Paul Mitchell and starting her new career in a salon, she developed a severe allergy on her hands. Ansley suffered from chemical burns for a year and a half & was told by many to just change her career. After rounds of painful testing, it was discovered she was allergic to many of the chemicals commonly used in traditional hair color (she is even allergic to regular plastic gloves & must use surgical gloves). Her doctor said that even being in the salon breathing in the chemicals could cause problems with her lungs eventually.
Ansley loves being a stylist and was determined to find a way. She did her research and found out about Organic Hair Color and discovered a color line that did not contain many of the harsh ingredients that she and many other people are allergic to. She tried this for a while and although improved, she still had some health issues from being in the typical salon environment...which then led Ansley to Citrus :)
After just her first week at Citrus, Ansley noticed a huge improvement with her hands and overall health. She is thriving in her new home here at Citrus & is excited to introduce her current and future clients to our fresh, low chemical approach to hair care.
**I'm so happy to be able to provide a healthier environment for Ansley & our amazing clients!
